Long version

Born and raised in Northeast Texas, I grew to appreciate the natural world with some of my earliest memories, of picking pecans from the old tree down the road. Little did I know that the patch of woods behind our house was one of few scraps of old growth forest remaining in that area of Texas.

Thanks to this secluded remnant, I was able to see both the beauty of nature, and the careless destruction of it. Later, Given the proximity of nature; I eagerly joined the B.S.A., participating in all things outdoors, and finishing my involvement as a youth at the rank of Eagle Scout.

Two days after graduating high school, I left to spend a summer(and the next) working at my favorite Scout Camp, Philmont Scout Ranch, a massive and unique nature preserve/camp/bison ranch in New Mexico. There I discovered a new level of appreciation for nature, at the tail end of the Rockies; Lands native to the Taos Pueblo, Tiwa, Ute, Lipan, and Jicarilla Apache. In the miles traveled on trail, nights spent in the backcountry, and preserved natural pride of those lands.

In 2018, I moved to Denver, Colorado having become enamored with the state from trips up during my time at Philmont. I now work as an independent contractor, having departed my position in industrial fluid transfer.

My pivotal moment for photography came in 2014; During my first long haul away from home.

That summer, while at Philmont, I was told that my photography teacher, who had lived down the street my whole life, passed suddenly of a “just unlucky” medical condition. Having been a pillar of my community, this loss rattled me, leading me to take more conscious effort in documenting my experiences. My passion for photography and curiosity for different view points has remained well kindled, thanks to Mr. Regalado’s skill as a teacher and photographer. Though he was given a shorter span than most, being the community pillar that he was, he has left more legacies than most could ever hope.

I aim to show my viewpoint though images and brief writing, an educational blog, and to service my community when possible. Thanks for the read!
